Rumbelly

Know what's bloating you — before you eat it.

Snap a photo of any meal. Rumbelly spots the hidden triggers a barcode can't see — the onion in the sauce, the garlic in the dressing — the FODMAPs that quietly cause bloating and gas, and learns which ones are yours.

The two rules of gut triggers

1

It's not the food you see

Most gas comes from a handful of fermentable carbs — called FODMAPs — that hide inside sauces, dressings and stocks. The pasta is innocent; the garlic oil isn't.

What you seeWhat actually ferments
2

It's personal

The same meal wrecks one gut and leaves another untouched. Lists can't tell you which group is yours — only your own data can.

This gut reactsThis one doesn't

Rumbelly is built around both rules: the scanner reasons about hidden ingredients, and the tracker correlates them with your gut's actual answer.

Do meals with onion or garlic upset your gut?

Why I built this

Hi — I'm Erik. I've spent years playing detective with my own gut: bloated after some dinners but not others, evenings ruined by something I couldn't name. I tried the low-FODMAP lists. They work fine in a supermarket aisle — and fall apart the moment food is cooked, sauced, or ordered at a restaurant.

I've been building mobile apps for over a decade, so I built the tool I couldn't find: one that looks at the actual plate in front of me, flags what's likely to rumble, and then checks those suspicions against what my gut really says. Family dinners here in Switzerland have been the test lab.

No investors, no food-industry money — just someone who wanted quieter evenings. I hope it brings you some too.

Questions, answered

What is a FODMAP?

FODMAPs are short-chain carbohydrates — fructans, lactose, excess fructose, polyols — that some guts struggle to absorb. They ferment in the large intestine, producing gas and bloating. The low-FODMAP approach was developed by researchers at Monash University.

Does Rumbelly diagnose IBS or food intolerances?

No. Rumbelly is an educational tool that helps you spot patterns between what you eat and how your gut responds. It is not a medical device and no substitute for a doctor or dietitian — bring your data to them instead.

How does the meal scan work?

You take a photo, and an AI model identifies the dish and its likely ingredients — including hidden triggers like onion, garlic or cream that a barcode scanner can't see. We never store the photo; our AI provider (Google) may keep it briefly for abuse monitoring under its API terms.

Is Rumbelly free?

Yes — scanning, logging and the food library are free. Deeper personal insights will be part of an optional premium upgrade.

How do I get Rumbelly?

Is my data private?

Yes. No account is required, your history stays on your device, and meal photos are analysed and never stored by us. You can export or delete everything at any time.
